Sybil Stewart Obituary

Sybil Kenny Stewart, age 84, of Crawfordville, GA died Wednesday, September 2, 2009. Born in Greene, County on August 9, 1925, she was the daughter of the late George Dewey Kenny and Thelma Lena Aycock Kenny. Sybil was a graduate of Greensboro High School in 1942. In 1947 she married Colin Steed Stewart and was a homemaker until she became a teacher''s aide at Union Point Elementary. For over twenty years she was the Probate Judge for Taliaferro County. She enjoyed her family and especially her grandchildren in her later years. She was a member of Crawfordville Baptist Church.

Sybil was preceded in death by her husband, Colin Steed Stewart in October of 2008. She is survived by her children, Carol Bird (Kitch) of Forsyth, GA, Charles Stewart (Paula) of Crawfordville, GA, Coleen Gardner (Joe) of Alpharetta, GA and Chip Stewart (Lori) of Milledgeville, GA; two brothers, Joe Kenny of Augusta, GA and Jimmy Kenny of Orlando, FL; nine grandchildren, Beth Sneed, Saralyn Fulcher, Leila Holbrook, Caroline Stewart, Kathleen Stewart, Joseph Gardner, Benjamin Gardner, Chris Stewart and Catie Stewart; four great grandchildren, Logan Sneed, Hunter Sneed, Dayton Sneed and Carson Sneed; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 4, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Crawfordville Baptist Church with Dr. Ricky Thrasher officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Joseph Gardner, Benjamin Gardner, Chris Stewart, Andy Holbrook, Michael Fulcher, Hunter Sneed and Logan Sneed. The family requests that any memorials be made to Crawfordville Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Billy Woodruff, 2394 Sharon Road, Crawfordville, GA 30631. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday night at McCommons Funeral Home in Greensboro. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
