Mary Sue Byce Leverette
Mary Sue Byce Leverette age 89 of Conyers, Georgia passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Riverside Health Care in Covington. Born in Madison, Georgia on September 13, 1925, she grew up in Greensboro, GA and graduated from Greensboro High School. Sue was the only daughter of the late Deforest Heyward Byce, Sr. and Daisy Lee Satterfield Byce. After high school she lived in Atlanta where she met and married Alfred Carter Leverette, Sr. and moved to Conyers, GA. Until 1990 when she retired, she worked as a teacher’s aide for Rockdale County Board of Education. Sue was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. She enjoyed watching the Braves baseball games, but most of all she loved children and being with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alfred Carter Leverette, Sr. in October of 1987 and siblings, Mills M. “B” Byce, Deforest Heyward Byce, Jr. and James Linton Byce. Survivors include two sons, Byce Leverette of Conyers, GA and Alfred Carter Leverette (Donna) of Conyers, GA; two brothers, Francis Lee Byce (Christine) of Greensboro, GA and Murell Wesley Byce (Shirley) of Greensboro, GA; three grandchildren, Dori Greene (Nathan), Nathan Pitts and Ryan Leverette (Bridget); four great grandchildren, Wesley Greene, Maggie Greene, Juliet Leverette and Oliver Leverette; other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at McCommons Chapel, with Rev. David Collins officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Nathan Pitts, Ryan Leverette, David Peek, Lee Bailey, Thad Chadwick and Jimmy Brandon. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service at McCommons Funeral Home.
