Stephen Michael McElhannon
Stephen Michael McElhannon, age 52, of Athens, Georgia, died on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Athens Regional Medical Center. He was born July 2, 1962 in Greensboro, GA to Leonard Powell McElhannon, Sr. and Sarah Sellers McElhannon. He graduated from Jefferson High School. At the time of his death, Steve was working as a Master Plumber for Tru-Check Metering Solutions. Prior to that he owned and operated S & S Plumbing and Oconee Pro Plumbing out of Bogart, GA. He was a member of Oconee Mana Baptist Church which he helped to build. He enjoyed deep sea fishing, hunting, going to the racetrack and was a ham radio operator. His greatest love was NASCAR and Jeff Gordon was his favorite driver. He was a member of PHCC Association. Steve was the most selfless man ever known and every friend he made, was for life.
In addition to his parents, Leonard and Sarah McElhannon of Union Point and Athens, he is survived by his step children, Dana Padilla (Danny Montayes) and Michelle Williamson and her daughter, Isa Williamson; a sister, Stephanie McElhannon Ward (Gregg) and their children, Mia and Sophia of Athens, GA; a brother, Leonard Powell McElhannon, Jr. (Shuchen) and their children Suzanne, Alexander, Charles, and Leia of Loganville, GA; one great nephew, Chase Sands; a number of other relatives and many, many friends.
Funeral Services will be held, Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Callaway Funeral Home Chapel, 208 N. Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. David Gattie and Rev. Tom Miles officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669. Serving as pallbearers are John Willis, Jeff Cornish, Dennis Luckey, Bill Bath, Greg Conley and Roy Stringer. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night at Callaway Funeral Home. Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
