Shirley Ward Hansen

Shirley Elaine Ward Hansen, age 83, of Greensboro, Georgia, died on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at her residence. Born in Dows, Iowa on April 26, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Ed and Bessie Branby Ward. She graduated from Ellsworth High School and worked for Council Bluffs Iowa School System as the cafeteria cook so she could be at home with her four children. After thirty years, of service, she retired in 1989. She married Hans Christian "Ike" Hansen on September 24, 1948 in Iowa. She was a member of Bethel Evangelical United Brethren Church. She was a great cook, especially at baking pies and cinnamon rolls. She has made her home in Greene County for the last two and one half years moving here from Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Hans Christian Hansen on December 2, 2012. She is survived by three daughters, Carol Hansen Roeck, Debra Elaine Hansen and Mary Jean Hansen; a son, Daniel Christian Hansen; and two sisters, Norma and Frieda; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her siblings JoAnne, Dorothy, Ruth, Donna, Edna, Milo and Donald.
