Sarah Margie Franklin Amos, age 83, of White Plains, GA, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at The Oaks At Limestone in Gainesville, GA. A native of Putnam County, she was born on May 28, 1929 to the late Emory Young Franklin and Lilia May Thompson. She graduated from Putnam County High School. On October 2, 1954 she married James H. "Sonny" Amos, who preceded her in death on December 25, 2001.
Survivors include a son Jimmy Amos and wife Mae Dean of Franklin, TN and grandchildren Carey Amos and Ryan Amos of Gainesville, GA. Siblings are Ray Franklin and wife Naomi of Eatonton, GA, Dean Franklin and wife Judy of Dawsonville, GA, Agnes Sorrells and husband Julius of Savannah, GA, and Tony Franklin and wife Maribel of Eatonton, GA. She also leaves behind many other relatives and friends.
After her husband retired from General Motors, they built a home in White Plains and moved there in 1988. She worked for Central & Southern Bank of Georgia, which is now BB&T, as a bookkeeper. Sarah was a member of White Plains Baptist Church. She enjoyed attending church and spending time with her family and friends. Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 10, 2012 at 11:00 a. m. at White Plains Baptist Church, 1020 Main Street East, White Plains, GA 30678, with Rev. Wayne J. Edwards officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Eatonton Memorial Park, Godfrey Road, Eatonton, GA 31024. The family will receive visitors at McCommons Funeral Home on Thursday, August 9, 2012 from 2 to 8 p.m. The family requests that any memorials be made to White Plains Baptist Church, P. O.
