Sara Moore Obituary

Sara Bailey Moore, age 87, of Union Point, Georgia, died on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at Oconee House Senior Living in Buckhead, GA. She was born in Wilkes County on May 30, 1921 to the late Francis Simon Bailey and Sophie Ophelia Hackney Bailey. She graduated from Washington Wilkes High School and married Harold W. Moore in 1944 while she was working at Union Manufacturing in Union Point. After they were married, he served his country in World War II. Sara continued to work for Union Manufacturing, which later became Chipman Union, for over forty-five years until retiring in 1987. After Harold died in 1988, she became the caretaker for her sister, Louise McIntire of Union Point until her death. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Union Point. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend to many.

Survivors include a daughter, Francis Elizabeth Moore "Beth" Kitchens and husband Melvin Jr. of Social Circle, GA; and two grandsons, Jason LaPalme and Bailey LaPalme, both of Union Point, GA; and a number of other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband and sister, she was preceded in death by her brothers; Larry Bailey, Crawford Bailey, Roger Bailey and Francis Bailey.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Union Point, GA with Rev. Hal Burke and Rev. Colin Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are B. J. Wilkes, Kyle Kitchens, Scott Walker, Wade Walker, Jason LaPalme and Bailey LaPalme. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday night at the funeral home.
