Sara (Robinson) Fortson

Sara Robinson Fortson of Greensboro, GA passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital. Born in Greensboro, GA on December 2, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Claud Edgar Robinson, Sr. and Marie Audrey McWhorter Robinson. She earned a Master’s Degree from Stanislaus State University. Sara married Marion Walker Fortson and they made their home in Modesto, CA.  Sara worked as a Social Worker for Stanislaus County California.  After retirement they returned to Greensboro.  She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer.  She enjoyed her time with friends and family.    

Sara was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Walker Fortson and son, Matt Fortson in 2004; a brother, Claud Edgar Robinson, Jr.; and a sister, Audrey Robinson Lunceford.  She is survived by a son and his wife, Gregory Kenneth Fortson and Delaine of Modesto, CA; two granddaughters, Sally Fortson (Brian Ellis) of Irvine, CA and Sara Fortson of Los Angeles, CA; great granddaughter, Emerson Rose Ellis; other relatives and friends.  

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Hugh Hendrickson officiating.
