Royce Lamar Glass

Royce Lamar Glass, age 81, of Greensboro, GA died Thursday, October 7, 2004 at his residence. Born in Walton County on January 1, 1923 he was the son of the late Haynie Milton Glass and Alma Evans Glass and was married to the late Hilda Atkinson Glass. He was a graduate of Greensboro High School. During World War II he served in the United States Army throughout the European Theatre with the 87th infantry division. After returning from the war he worked as a butcher for ABC Food Store in Sparta, GA. He was a member of the Adams-Walker VFW Post in Greensboro and Siloam Methodist Church. He truly loved sports and was the number one fan of Nathanael Greene Academy.

He is survived by three sons, Sidney Glass and wife Bonnie of Macon, GA, Lt. Col. Scott Glass and wife Paige of Belgium and Sanford "Sandy" Glass of Greensboro, GA; a sister, Sara Nell King of Brookhaven, GA; a brother, Harold Glass of Greensboro, GA; five grandchildren, Carlie Glass, Michael Glass, Garrett Bunn, Matthew Glass and Benjamin Glass; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by five brothers, W. J. Glass, Lawrence Glass, Julian Glass, Leon Glass and Haywood Glass.

Graveside Services with military honors will be held on Sunday, October 10, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Siloam Cemetery with Rev. Les Cowart officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Lee Lord, Jimmy Peugh, Sidney Bryson, Thurmond Jarrard, Don Channell and Johnny Lewis. The family requests that any memorials be made to the Siloam Methodist Church, c/o Shirley Channell, 3871 Highway 15 South, Greensboro, GA 30642.
