Roy Jefferson Williams, Jr.
Roy Jefferson Williams, Jr., age 78, of Greensboro, GA, died on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at his home with his loving family. Born in Atlanta, GA on March 12, 1941, he was the youngest of five children born to the late Roy Jefferson Williams, Sr. and Willie Ruth Pugh Williams. Roy attended O’Keefe High School in Atlanta, GA. On April 20 1959 he married the former Shirley Mae McElreath. In 1988 they moved from Atlanta to Greensboro, GA. For many years he was a Long Haul Truck Driver and the owner and operator of Williams Transport. He was also an ordained minister. After he retired he continued to stay busy in his ministry visiting all the nursing homes. He was a member of Northside Church of God in Atlanta, GA. Most of his life he played the guitar with friends and enjoyed music of all kinds, especially singing gospel.
In addition to his wife of sixty years, Shirley Mae Williams of Greensboro, GA, he is survived by his daughters, Shirley Ann Williams-Bautista of Union Point, GA and Faye Ruth (Bobby) Kilgore of Canton, GA; grandchildren, Angela Gatica, Matthew Nichols, Melissa Hernandez, Tommy Lee Green and Elizabeth Cruz; seven great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by all of his siblings: sisters, Montine, Betty and Jackie and brother, Jerry.
The family will hold a private memorial service to celebrate Roy’s life at a later date.
