Rosemarie Rodat Otis

Rosemarie Rodat Otis, age 83, of Greensboro, GA, died Saturday morning, September 11, 2010 at her residence. Born on October 5, 1926 in Erie, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Frederick Rodat and Anna Dern Rodat. She graduated from Millcreek High School in Erie, Pennsylvania and received a degree in nursing from St. Luke''s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, where she worked for several years after graduation. In 1948 she married W. Clair Otis, who preceded her in death in 1996. They had moved to Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, GA from Rock Island, IL in 1991. Mrs. Otis was an active and devoted member of the Greensboro First Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Greensboro Garden Club and the Greensboro Tree Board. She was an artist and enjoyed painting and ceramics. Lately she enjoyed playing dominoes with her dear friends. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but will be remembered for her kindness and her loving way and will always remain in their hearts.

In addition to her husband, W. Clair Otis, she was preceded in death by a brother, Fred "Fritz" Rodat. She is survived by three daughters, Jana Otis of Eatonton, GA, Lisa Otis of Lexington, KY and Kristen Anderson and husband Larry of Orion, IL; grandchildren, Travis and Haley Anderson of Orion, IL; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial Services will be held on Monday, September 20, 2010 at 11:00 am. at the First Presbyterian Church, 117 South Main Street, Greensboro, GA 30642. There will be a small reception immediately following at the church. The family requests that any memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, GA 30605-3007.
