Rosa Mary (Puckett) Harrison

Rosa Mary Puckett Harrison, 71, of Decatur, GA passed away on Friday, December 9, 2016 at her residence. Born on October 13, 1945 in Athens, Georgia, she was the only child of the late Byron Lee Clements and Lucille Puckett Clements. She grew up in Siloam, GA and graduated from Greensboro High School.  On June 15, 1966 Rosa married her high school sweetheart, Gordon Dendy Harrison, Jr. They made their home in Decatur, GA, where she lived the rest of her life. Through the years she worked for both AT&T and Macy’s, retiring for good in 2008. Growing up, Rosa attended Siloam First United Methodist Church and more recently attended Decatur City Church.  At an early age, Rosa fell in love with the written word and books became her constant and dearest companions.  Music was a great source of joy and a salve to her soul. She was particularly smitten with “The Man in Black” and “The King of Rock-n-Roll”.  If you ever needed to talk sports, Rosa was your girl. She could have held her own among the best of sportscasters, especially if the topic was her beloved Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.  Mom played out her passion for sports on the tennis court where she enjoyed the fun camaraderie and fierce competition of the game. Wherever Rosa’s interests led her, she always found friends. Nothing delighted her more than learning about people, listening to their stories and reaching out to encourage and support them however she could.  She was a genuinely kind and loving person with astonishing fortitude. No one knew that better than her family who strive to live out her legacy.  She was a devoted wife, wonderful mother and grandmother, a treasured friend and neighbor. She will be dearly missed.

Rosa was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years only seven months prior to her passing. Survivors include her daughters, Elaine Michelle Scott (Al) of Suwanee, GA., Rebecca Elizabeth LeAnne Hawk (Duane) of Cumming, GA., and a son, Kenneth Gordon Harrison (Robin) of Cumming, GA.  In addition, she had three grandchildren, Harrison Alexander Scott, Katherine Elaine Scott and Blane Tucker Roehrich.

Memorial Services will be held on January 21st at 1:00 pm at the First Baptist Church, 203 S. Main Street, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Al & Elaine Scott officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Greensboro City Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA.  The family will not have a graveside service, but rather receive guests before and after the service.
