Roger Elmer Lindquist of Greensboro, GA, died Saturday, September 22, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospice House in Watkinsville, GA. He was born on April 14, 1946 in Middletown, CT, the son of the late Roger Warren Lindquist and Theresa Helen Hill Lindquist. During the Vietnam Era, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked in management at the Hartford Courant Newspaper in Connecticut and later retired from the St. Augustine Record in St. Augustine, FL. On October 25, 2005 he married the former Carol Herr and they made their home in Tennessee. Six years ago they moved from a Del Webb in Mount Juliet, TN to the Del Webb in Greensboro, GA. In Mount Juliet, Roger was a founding member of the American Legion Post 281. Roger was involved in all the patriotic activities at Del Webb where he was president of the Veterans Club, enjoyed playing golf and was an avid walker. He was a devoted Christian and a member of the Worship Center in Hebron, CT. While living in Greensboro, he attended the First United Methodist Church. Above all, Roger deeply loved his God, his family and his country.
In addition to his wife, Carol Lindquist of Greensboro, GA, he is survived by a daughter, Laura Becker (Stephen) of Manchester, CT; a son, Eric Lindquist (Anna) of Hebron, CT; three sisters, Pat Schwarm of Portland, CT; Pam Allegretti of Higganum, CT; and Peggy (Russell) Maine of Clinton, CT; grandson, Henry Lindquist; nieces, nephews and many friends.
Graveside Services will be held at the State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Ln, Middletown, CT 06457 with Rev. Mark Santostesano officiating. Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver Street, Middleton, CT 06457 is in charge of arrangements. Local Memorial Service is scheduled at the First United Methodist Church – South Campus on October 2 at 2:00 PM officiated by Stephen Atchley. The family requests that any memorials be made to the Georgia War Veterans Home, c/o Dennis Mize, 2249 Vinson Highway, Milledgeville, GA 31061 or the donor’s favorite charity.
