Roger Nash Lankford

Roger Nash Lankford, age 71, of Union Point, GA, died Friday, August 14, 2015 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro, GA. He was born on August 8, 1944, in Union Point, GA, one of 10 children born to the late Jesse and Cleo Agnes Turner Lankford. He was raised in Union Point and attended Union Point High School.  As a young man he worked as a service station attendant in Atlanta and later retired from Chipman Union in Union Point as a fixer.  Roger was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Union Point.   

He is survived by two daughters, Donna Lankford of Kingsport, TN and Joyce Lankford Williams Raye (Michael) of Kingsport, TN; a son, Rodney Ashley; four sisters, Darlene Carter of Loganville, GA, Jeannette Carter and her husband Roy of Eatonton, GA, Joyce Dale and her husband Delbert of Stone Mountain, GA and Gail Sturdivant and her husband Randy of Bonaire, GA; three brothers, Bobby Lankford and his wife Wydell of Stephens, GA, Clarence Lankford and his wife Grace of Flowery Branch, GA, and Charles Lankford and his wife Sandra of Danielsville, GA; a number of stepchildren and step grandchildren; numerous other relatives; and many friends. Roger was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Langford; a sister Betty Lankford Campbell; and a grandson, Brandon Lankford.

A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Randy Lankford officiating.
