Robert Joel “Bobby Joe” Taylor, age 79, of Greensboro, GA formerly of Union Point, went home to heaven Monday, February 14, 2011 at St. Mary’s Hospice in Bogart. Born in the Robinson Community of Taliaferro County on July 30, 1931, he was the son of the late Patrick Mel Taylor and Susie Mae Andrews Taylor. He attended school in Taliaferro County and on October 5, 1962 he married the former Frances Harper. He was a heavy equipment operator for the Greene County Road Department. Bobby Joe loved to fish, play the guitar, sing and work around farm animals.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Frances Harper Taylor; a daughter, Mary Louise Taylor; and siblings, R. O. Taylor, Melba Ogletree and Patrick M. Taylor, Jr.; He is survived by two daughters, Sarah (Fernando) Martinez of Greensboro, GA and Susanne (Neil) Griffin of Greensboro, GA; grandchildren, Jessica (Blake) Boivin of Ft. Stewart, GA, Julie (Sam) Buford of Greensboro, GA, Joshua Griffin of Greensboro, GA, Victoria Martinez of Greensboro, GA and Nicholas Martinez of Greensboro, GA; two great grandchildren, Gabriella Boivin of Ft. Stewart, GA and Mackenzie Buford of Greensboro, GA; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Union Point Worship Center, 208 Lamb Avenue, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Dennis Mitchell, Dr. David Fletcher and Rev. Ron Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669. Serving as pallbearers are Mark Higdon, Ralph Flynt, Jamey Griffin, Michael Brown, Larry Meeks, Leonard McElhannon and Richard Tolbert.
