Robert Edward “Eddie” Lanier, III, age 49, died, Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at Community Health Center of Branch County in Coldwater, MI. Born on October 8, 1960 in Decatur, GA, Eddie was the son of Robert Edward Lanier, Jr. of Madison, GA and the late Barbara Ann Wingo. He was the grandson of the late Robert Edward Lanier, Sr. and Lottie O’Kelly Lanier from the Centennial Community. Following graduation from Cedar Grove High School in DeKalb County he attended West Georgia College. Eddie immediately thereafter entered the United States Marine Corp Reserve, where he served four years in the Force Recon. Upon his discharge from the Marine Corp, he worked as a contractor specializing in residential building and remodeling. He was a member of Dogwood Farm Christian Church in Decatur, GA. Eddie had just recently moved to Coldwater, MI to be close to his son, Buddy, who was his pride and joy. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing and also enjoyed woodworking and wood carving.
In addition to his father, Robert Edward Lanier, Jr., Eddie is survived by a son, Robert Edward “Buddy” Lanier IV of Dimondale, MI; a sister Pamela Jo Lanier Hardeman of Covington, GA; a brother, Robert Larry “Robby” Lanier of Mansfield, GA; a nephew, Stephen Taylor Hardeman of Covington, GA; extended family, Sandy Pendley of Snellville, GA and Terry Pendley of Blairsville, GA; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Centennial Christian Church, 4828 Centennial Road, White Plains, GA 30678 with Rev. Clark Cregger officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Mike Gaddy, Bob Jones, Mike Hamby, David Lanier, Scott Ammarman, Dylan Ammarman and David Hawkins. The family requests that memorials be made to either, Georgia Kids Hunting for a Cure, 1370 Howard Lewis Road, White Plains, GA 30678 or Centennial Christian Church Cemetery Fund, 7601 Veazey Road, White Plains, GA 30678. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until time for the service on Saturday at Centennial Christian Church.
