Robert Lee Black of Greensboro, GA passed away Saturday, January 4, 2020 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital. He was 85. Bob was born August 19, 1934 in Minneapolis, KS to the late Floyd and Lula Mae Reynolds Black. He graduated from Chapman High School in Chapman, KS. After high school he began a career with the Kansas Department of Transportation retiring as the Highway Supervisor.
While a resident of Clay Center, KS, Bob was involved in the community serving on the city council for 4 years, an active member of the city Jaycees, summer ball and rec program (10 years as umpire), member of the First Baptist Church and exalted ruler and member of the Elks.
On May 11, 2003, he married Bonnie Leigh Anderson and moved from Clay Center, KS to Greensboro, GA. Bob was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Greensboro. His many interests included woodworking, mowing the lawn and painting.
Bob is survived by his wife of 16 years, Bonnie of Greensboro, GA; three children, Larry Black (Terry) of Wichita, KS, Linda Lamkin (Sterling) of Austin, TX and Lyle Black (Carrie) of Wichita, KS; step children, Tracy Anderson (Claire) of Atlanta, GA, Blake Anderson of Atlanta, GA and Penny Anderson of Loganville, GA; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church North Campus, 202 W. Broad Street, Greensboro, GA with Rev. Dr. Matt Stewart officiating. A memorial service and internment will be held in Clay Center, KS at a later date. The family requests that memorials be made in his honor to the First United Methodist Church, P.O.
