Robert Eugene “Swampy” Arnold, 66, of Greensboro died Saturday, September 14, 2002. Born in Greene County on November 7, 1935, he was the son of the late Harold S. Arnold and Emma Moody Arnold. He was a lifelong resident of Greene County and attended Greensboro High School. In the past he worked as a maintenance technician at Mary-Leila Cotton Mill and Wellington Puritan. He was the owner and operator of Arnold’s Flea Market.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Jean Overton Arnold in December of 1988. He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Herrington of Mountain City, Georgia; two granddaughters, Miranda Compton and Beegee Herrington; two great grandchildren, Malina Rawlins and Alex Rawlins; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, September 16, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery in Union Point with Rev. Jim Olds officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday night at the Funeral Home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad St., Greensboro, GA, (706) 453-2626, is in charge of arrangements.
