Richard Lane “Dickie” Dunagan, Sr., age 74, of White Plains, GA, died Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon. Born in White Plains, GA on December 20, 1943, he was the son of the late Lois Lipscomb Dunagan and Robert Lee Dunagan. Dickie attended school in White Plains until the fifth grade, in Siloam through the seventh grade and graduated from Greensboro High School in 1961. He married the former Carol Norris of Sparta, GA on August 30, 1980. He was a successful businessman owning and operating Dunagan Logging from 1972 until he retired in 2010. He was a longtime member of White Plains Baptist Church and for a number of years he served on the White Plains City Council. He loved and lived life to the fullest. He loved his hometown of White Plains, his logging business, gardening and farming. Dickie particularly cherished time spent with his family. He acquired many close friendships in his lifetime. He was a kind, fun, energetic and caring person. His good humor will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lee Dunagan in 1995; and a brother, William Robert “Bobby” Dunagan in 1964. In addition to his wife, Carol Norris Dunagan of White Plains, GA, he is survived by his seven children, Richard Dunagan, Jr. and wife Bitsy of White Plains, GA, Angie Smith and husband Allen of Rutledge, GA, David Dunagan and wife Teresa of White Plains, GA, Amy Boswell and husband Farrett of Watkinsville, GA, Beth Richards of White Plains, GA, Kim Crawford and husband Bill Jr. of Greensboro, GA and Blake Dunagan and wife Tori of Stockton, Iowa; a sister, Susan Scott and husband Howard of Snellville, GA; brother, Joe Dunagan and wife Joan of Watkinsville, GA; 15 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the White Plains Baptist Church, 1020 Main Street E., White Plains, GA 30678 with Rev. Farrett Boswell officiating. Interment will follow in the White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are grandsons: Trey Dunagan, Conrad Richards, Logan Crawford, Kanton Crawford, Justis Ogletree, Jackson Ogletree, Cameron Thurmond and Jeff Thurmond.
