Richard E. Wenz

Richard E. Wenz, 66, of Bonita Springs, Florida and Greensboro, Georgia died Wednesday, June 29, 2016.  He was born October 10, 1949 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Bernice and Harry Wenz.  Dick attended Northern Illinois University and majored in accounting, graduating in 1971.  He began his career with Arthur Young in Chicago, Illinois and acquired his CPA certificate in 1972.  Dick left public accounting after twelve years and served as the CFO of Wilson Sporting Goods.  From 1992 to 1994, he served as President and CEO of Professional Golf Corporation.  From 1997 to 2000, Dick served as the President and COO of Safety First Incorporated. From 2002 to 2003, Dick served as the CEO of Jenny Craig International.  Simultaneously, he was an Operating Partner affiliate of DB Capital Partners, the private equity arm of Deutsche Bank, in the early 2000’s.  Dick held numerous positions on various boards of directors, both public and private, throughout his career.  Dick was happily married to his high school sweetheart, Eloise, for 46 years. Eloise and Dick enjoyed playing golf and traveling the world together. Dick was a loving father of two sons: Adam R. Wenz (Alison) of Peachtree Corners, Georgia and Daniel J. Wenz (Ashley) of Charleston, South Carolina, and three grandchildren he was crazy about: Charlie, Libby and Tawes Wenz. Dick is survived by his brothers, Paul D. Wenz (Cris) and Clifford J. Wenz (Marilyn), brother-in-law Dr. James E. Thommes (Beth) and sister-in-law, Joanne Rasnick (Steve), and many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by siblings Philip H. Wenz, Elaine Hansen, and Robert T. Wenz.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Dick Wenz will be held on Saturday, July 9th at 12:00 noon at First United Methodist Church, 4741 Carey Station Road in Greensboro, Georgia.
