Richard McElhannon

J C Richard McElhannon, age 72, of Eatonton, Georgia, died Saturday, March 21, 2009 at his home in Eatonton. He was born on June 8, 1936 the son of Sarah Young McElhannon Watkins of Greensboro, GA and the late Emory Thomas McElhannon. Richard attended Greensboro High School and after high school served in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1956. For a year he worked at Mary Leila Cotton Mill and then drove a milk truck for Atlanta Dairies retiring in 1987 after twenty-eight years of service. He then worked as a security guard at Louisiana Pacific for five years and his most recent job was at the Putnam County Recycling Center.

Survivors include six daughters, Lisa S. McElhannon of Eatonton, GA, Kim McElhannon of Milledgeville, GA, Staci M. Jackson and husband Chris of Sparta, GA, Lou Ann Clark of Whitley City, KY, Clorinda McNair and husband Jim of Valdosta, GA and Jackie Jaime of Juliete, GA; a son Tommy McElhannon and wife Lisa of Eatonton, GA; two sisters, Gwynell M. Noggle of Greensboro, GA and Gladys M. Noggle of Greensboro, GA; two brothers, Nathan McElhannon of Eatonton, GA and Bo McElhannon of Eatonton, GA; six grandchildren, Morgan Sills, Raymond McElhannon, Blazer McElhannon, Isaac Deveau, Kulan Benton and Preston "Buckshot" McElhannon Fullmore; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Graveside Services will be held on Monday, March 23, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Greenview Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Usry officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Chris Jackson, Robert McElhannon, Michael Martin, Ward Holloway, Miguel Llambes, Nathan McElhannon, Greg Harrison and Rodney Fullmore Sr. The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday at McCommons funeral home.
