FORT WASHAKIE — Memorial services for Richard “Dick” Douglas Dauler, 69, were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at St. David’s Church, The Roberts Mission, with the Right Rev. Bruce Edward Caldwell, Bishop of Wyoming, and the Rev. Carl Thomas Means officiating. He died Wednesday April 25, 2007, at his home in Fort Washakie, surrounded by his wife and close friends. He was born Jan. 10, 1938, in Fort Wayne, Ind., the son of Doyt William and Mabel (Fell) Dauler. The family moved to Decatur, Ga. in 1950 where he graduated from Decatur High School. He then served in the U.S. Navy and attended the University of Georgia, majoring in poultry science. He was well-known in the poultry industry, spending most of his career in national and international sales. He retired as Southeast Regional Sales Manager for Big Dutchman, Inc. in March, 2002 and moved to Wyoming in May of the same year with his wife, Joyce. He was also a successful cattle rancher and owner of Dauler Cattle Company in Greensboro, Ga. An avid gun and long bow hunter, he was a superb marksman, claiming (among other titles) National Trapshooting Handicap Champion in 1980 and Fifth place in the Howard Hill World Long Bow Competition in 1986. He was an active member of the Episcopal Church where he had served as Vestryman, and a member of various civic and professional organizations. Survivors include his wife, Joyce (Bell) Wade Dauler; children, Doyt Douglas and Robin (Taylor) Dauler; Rex Edward and Sandra (Garrett) Dauler; Leigh Anne (Dauler) and Timothy Jay Simpson; step-children Leo Joseph Wade, Jr.; Curtis Hudson and Donna (Slayton) Wade; Elizabeth DeMent Wade; Matthew Thomas and Amy (VanderHorst) Wade; six grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; twin brother, William Stanley Dauler and his wife; three nieces; one nephew; and nine great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Anne (Hiter) Dauler and his parents. Memorials may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, P. O. Box 93, Greensboro, GA 30642 or to St. David’s Episcopal Mission of Fort Washakie, WY in care of Hudson’s Funeral Home, 680 Mount Hope Dr., Lander, 82520. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Greensboro with the Reverend D. Geoffrey Taylor and The Reverend Dr. John A.
