Rebecca Mae Swann Sweetser

Rebecca Mae Swann Sweetser of Union Point, GA, died Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Greene Point Health and Rehab with her daughters by her side. She was 69.  She was born on April 5, 1947 in Wilkes County to the late Millard Norton Swann and Zelmar Mae Hensley Swann.  She attended Union Point High School and received her LPN in 1967 from North Georgia Technical School. She earned her Associates of Science Degree as a Registered Nurse from the University of the State of New York in 1988.  Becky dedicated her life and career to taking care of her family and friends.  Throughout her nursing career she worked in many fields of nursing: hospitals, physicians offices, home healthcare and long term care. She truly loved working with the elderly and as a Director of Nursing became well respected and loved by the community and her co-workers. During her working career she worked for Healthmaster Home Health, Greene Point Health Care, St. Mary’s Home Health, St. Mary’s Hospital, Minnie G. Boswell Memorial,  Family Medical Center, and Family Life Enrichment Center.  In 2012 she retired from Boswell Parker Health & Rehab due to health issues.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Union Point. Becky loved family vacations at the beach, old movies, gospel music, day trips to the mountains and cooking family dinners.  She was always one to put others above herself.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Eugene Sweetser.  She is survived by her devoted family, Suzette Yearwood and husband David of Union Point, GA and Tes Sweetser of Athens, GA; brother, Alvin Swann and wife Betty of McCormick, SC; grandchildren, Matthew Yearwood and wife Stacie and Jacob Yearwood and girlfriend Rebecca Cantrell and numerous friends.  
 
Funeral Services will be held, Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 206 Thornton Street, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Marc Lhowe officiating.  Interment will follow at Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery, 1560 Bethesda Church Road, Union Point, GA 30669.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until time for the service at the church.  Serving as pallbearers are Jacob Yearwood, Matthew Yearwood, Chris Swann, Kenny Swann, Russell Swann and Chris Nash.  Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
