Rebecca Dawson Higdon

Rebecca Dawson Higdon of Greensboro, GA, died at her residence on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the age of 73. Born in Glascock County on May 1, 1940, she was the daughter of the late John Dawson and Mary Staveley Dawson. From 1980 until 2002 she worked as a waitress at Townehouse Restaurant in Greensboro. Rebecca had a cat that she loved dearly and she enjoyed reading cookbooks.

In addition to her parents, John and Mary Dawson, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Thomas Higdon; half sister, Sarah Fanning and half brother, Hugh Dawson. Rebecca is survived by a daughter, Tammy Higdon Gorny and husband David of Lawrenceville, GA; a very good friend, Pep Stone of Greensboro, GA; a sister, Dollie Waits and husband Herschel of Louisville, GA; brother, Earl Dawson of Hephzibah, GA; two brothers-in-law, Jim Higdon and wife Phyllis and Lynn Higdon and wife Fran; sister-in-law, Kay Higdon; a number of other relatives and many friends.

Graveside services will be held, Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 3:30 p. m. at the Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA with Rev. Tim Tabler officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until time for the service on Saturday at McCommons Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers are Herschel Waits, Jim Higdon, Lynn Higdon, Tracy Walden, Doug Smith and Mike Beri. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Bobby Durham, Dr. Rob Durham, Dr. Billy Copelan, Richard Tolbert, Jimmy Edmonds, Pep Stone and Richard Moon McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
