Raymond Adolphus Webb passed away on Monday, July 25, 2016 at Greene Point Health Care in Union Point, GA. Adolphus was born on May 18, 1938 in Lithonia, Georgia to the late Edward Frank Webb and Allie Vertrue Parker Webb. He graduated from Greensboro High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army and also the National Guard. Adolphus married Katherine Hammond on March 27, 2001. During his working career he worked for Westinghouse putting together transformers and retired in 1992 after 32 years. He also worked for the Union Point and Greensboro Police Department and the Union Point Dispatch Service. For many years he served as an Emergency Medical Technician for Greene County. For a while Adolphus worked for Harbor Club as a security guard. He had a lifelong love for the outdoors and also enjoyed going to the Union Point Auction with friends. His greatest love was his family and he was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by Katherine Hammond Webb, his wife of fifteen years; five daughters, Teresa Wrye (Gary) of Hampton GA, Laura Mason (Ricky) of Jackson, GA, Sheila Knight of Stockbridge, GA, Susie Anderson (Gary) of Shepherdsville, KY and Wendy Logsdon (Anthony) of Shepherdsville, KY; two stepsons, Henry English and Hammond English; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and other family that loved him very much. He was preceded in death by his only brother, Edward Webb.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at McCommons Chapel with Rev. Wayne Usry officiating. Interment will follow at the Penfield Cemetery, 1211 Cemetery Road, Penfield, GA 30669. Serving as pallbearers are Bill Cofer, Greg Alexander, Ronnie Long, Dan Noggle, Kelvin Kitchens and Jackie Copelan.
