Mary Ramona Hooker Murray of Eatonton, GA, died Thursday, May 15, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.  She was 85.  Born in Birmingham, AL on July 13, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Charles Milton Hooker and Edna Palmer Hooker both of Birmingham, AL.  She graduated from Jefferson County High School in 1945.  She worked for 20 years w/ Bell South as a Supervisor, retiring in 1988.  Ramona loved to research her genealogy (Scottish & Indian) write poetry and read. Some of her other interests were planning trips and being with her family.  Five years ago in July of 2009 she moved from Birmingham, AL to  Eatonton to live with her son Russell and wife, Jan.  She attended Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church.
 
She is survived by her devoted family: sons, Robert W. Murray and wife, DeeDee of Birmingham, AL; Charles D. Murray and wife, Debbie of Birmingham, AL; Russell G. Murray and wife, Jan of Eatonton, GA,  and daughter, Marjorie Jo Earley and husband, Anthony of Mooresville,  NC; sister, Dorris (Gordon) Tidwell of Fultondale, AL; grandchildren Dwayne Ogles and wife, Alison of Statesville, NC;  Jeremy Ogles of Mooresville, NC; great grandchildren, Austyn and Olivia Ogles and many other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by husband, George R. Murray, a son, George R. Murray, Jr, sister, Ireene Holmes and husband, Jack and brother, Charles Milton Hooker, Jr.
 
Funeral Services will be held, Sunday, May 18, 2014 at 4:00 PM at Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church, 113 Scott Road, Eatonton, GA 31024.  The family will receive friends after the service at the church.  Interment will be at Walker Chapel Cemetery in Fultondale, Alabama.  The family requests that any memorials be made to Harmony Hospice, 110 Harmony Crossing, Suite 1, Eatonton, GA 31024.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
