William Ralph Simons
William Ralph Simons, of Greensboro, GA, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Greene Point Health and Rehabilitation in Union Point, GA with his loved ones by his side. He was 81. Born in Taliaferro County on February 24, 1934, he was one of nine children born to the late Julius Ceasar Simons and Edna Gertrude Lyle Simons. He attended school in Taliaferro County and was a member of the Georgia National Guard. His working career was spent as a body man and painter at Bradley Pontiac and Clifton’s Auto Service. He enjoyed barbecuing, fishing and hunting, but most of all “Papa” enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. After retirement he enjoyed talking and visiting with his friends at Richard’s Tire and Supply.
He is survived by three daughters, Teresa Kelly and husband Sidney of Greensboro, GA, Janice Roper of Greensboro, GA and Tammy Underwood of Greensboro, GA; five grandchildren, Pete O’Neal and wife Kristy of Greensboro, GA, Win O’Neal of Greensboro, GA, Trey Underwood and wife Brittany of Greensboro, GA, Tanner Underwood of Greensboro, GA and Tal Underwood of Greensboro, GA; four great-grandchildren, Samantha O’Neal, Ike O’Neal, Johnson O’Neal and Lane Underwood; and a number of other relatives and many friends. In addition to his wife Loretta Strickland Simons who preceded him in death in December of 2013, he was predeceased by all of his siblings, Bertha Howe, Mary Dean Moore, Barbara Ann Combs, Lucy Nell Daley, Thomas Simons, Steed Simons, Jack Simons and Roy Simons.
A Celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel in Greensboro. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home.
