Ralph Alvin Moore

Ralph Alvin Moore, lifelong Greene County citizen died on Sunday, December 29, 2019, at the age of 92. Mr. Moore was born June 25, 1927 to Durward Elmer and Pauline Price Moore. He was the last survivor of their nine children, eight boys and one girl.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army.  He married the former Fay Saraglyn Elder on August 29, 1951 and they had been married fifty-two years at the time of her death in August of 2003.  For more than sixty-seven years he was in the dairy business and was owner of R. A. Moore Dairy, Inc.  In 1998 he received the Conservationist of the year Award for his love of the land, his leadership in the community, for being a good citizen, farmer and above all, being a good American.  He was a devoted member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the deacons and treasurer and he has always been an active member of his community.  He was a wonderful father and grandfather who dearly loved his family and will be greatly missed.

Mr. Moore is survived by his two daughters, Dianne Moore Bennett and Teresa Moore Churchwell (Barry); four grandchildren, Chad Bennett (Angel), Clay Bennett (Melissa), Dustin Churchwell (Mandy) and Nancie Churchwell Sanders (Charlie); six great grandchildren, Avi Bennett, Kyle Churchwell, Kaylee Churchwell, Brooke Sanders, Breanna Sanders and Caleb Sanders; many other relatives and friends and his beloved dog Fran.  

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 2, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, 2721 Macedonia Road, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Joel Sorrow and Rev. Wayne Usry officiating.  The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the church.  Burial will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers are Kevin Nichols, Freddy Gilbert, Dewey Hubbard, Bobby Voyles, Dwight Mixon, Dewitt Price, Rick Smith and Alan Moon.  Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Price, Stuart Nichols, Jeremy Nichols, Allen Nichols, Dallas Miller, Phil Van Eck and Dr. E. G. Copelan.  The family requests that any memorials be made to Macedonia Baptist Church, 3000 Macedonia Road, Union Point, GA  30669.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
