Rachel (Lankford) Morris

Rachel Lankford Morris of Union Point passed away July 23, 2016 in hospice care at Greene Point Nursing Home.  A lifelong resident of Greene County, she was born September 6, 1940 to George Lee Lankford and Clarice Turner Lankford.  She married Billy Morris on March 26, 1960.  She worked many years as a knitter at Chipman Union.  In 1984 she left her job at Chipman Union and helped Billy operate Greshamville Mall until his death, then continued the business until 1994 when it was sold.  

She was preceded in death by her parents George Lee and Clarice Lankford, her husband Billy Morris and her granddaughter Wendy Elaine Dover.  She is survived by her daughter Debbie Hall, Union Point, Ga. her son Bobby Morris and wife Brenda, Madison, Ga, her grandchildren Bobbi Jean Singleton (Jason) Good Hope, Ga, Robert Morris, St. Simons, Ga. her great grandchildren Wyatt, Jackson, Huck and Sara Singleton, and Shae Andrews Morris, her brother Bennie Lankford, Union Point, Ga. her half-sisters Dorothy Davis, Oxford, Ga., Donna Lachina and Judy Hardy, Panama City, Fla., her half-brother Steve Lankford, Panama City, Fla. and her sister-in-law Pam Hinton Lucey, Lithia Springs, Ga.

Her wishes were to be cremated.  A memorial service will be held graveside in Greenlawn Cemetery on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Randy Lankford officiating.  Floral tributes will be welcomed or donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital which she supported for many years.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
