Peggy Mauldin Rhodes Edwards

Peggy Mauldin Rhodes Edwards passed away, Monday, July 28, 2014 at University Hospital in Augusta, GA. Born in Greene County in Woodville, GA on October 28, 1935 she was the daughter of the late William Earl Mauldin and Lucia Camilla Jackson Mauldin. She grew up and attended school in Woodville and later graduated from Union Point High School.  Peggy married Joe C. Rhodes on June 13, 1954 and out of this union she had a son Joey Rhodes and a daughter DeDee Rhodes.  They resided in Crawfordville for thirty-eight years. In 1994 she retired from the Georgia Department of Family & Children Services where she served both Greene and Oglethorpe counties for thirty years.  After the death of Joe, she married Charlie Edwards on October 24, 1992 and moved to White Plains.  All of her life she was a people person who thoroughly enjoyed her family and helping others.  She loved flowers, painting, gardening and the great outdoors. As long as health permitted she was a faithful member of Mt. Stephens Baptist Church.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Charlie Edwards of White Plains, GA; her son, Joey Rhodes and wife Vickey; daughters, DeDee Bowen and husband Glenn, Janis Edwards, and Deborah Edwards Womack; grandchildren, Hannah Rhodes, Emily Rhodes, Ashley and James MacNamara, Bret and Allyson Antwine, Jamie and Brionne Antwine, Rob Womack and Kelley and Ryan Fergot; great grandchildren, Colton and Adalynn Grace, Emily, Caleb, Parker and Hudson Antwine and Connor Fergot; a number of other relatives and many friends.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Mauldin.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 31, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Stephens Baptist Church, Edwards Road, White Plains, GA 30678 with Rev. Dennis Garner, Bob Beeland and Rev. Ray Rhodes, Jr. officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Tim Simons, Paul Jackson, Jay Beeland, Lamar Nix, Craig Morgan and Elliott Lindsey.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday night at McCommons Funeral Home in Greensboro.  In addition to flowers, any memorials may be made to Mt.
