Peggy Phillips Farmer, age 71, of Greensboro, GA, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 29, 1940 in Bold Springs, GA to the late Gordon Clarence Phillips and Lurie Mae Baughcum Phillips. When she was young she worked at several textile mills and later helped at Bethel Baptist Church School. But mostly she was a homemaker raising her children. She graduated from Union Point High School with the class of 1959. Peggy was a devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church of Union Point and the Ladies Sunday School Class. She was one of the founding members of Bethel Baptist Church. Among her hobbies were sewing, crocheting and knitting. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Jimmy Wayne Farmer of Greensboro, GA; a daughter, Aimee Ginn and husband Scott of Commerce, GA; two sons, John Paul Farmer and wife Shannon of Greensboro, GA and Josh Farmer and wife Tiffany of Greensboro, GA; two sisters, Anna Phillips of Monroe, GA and Sue Evans and husband David of Greensboro, GA; three brothers, Billy Jack Phillips of Florida, James Phillips and wife Pam of North Carolina and Henry Phillips and wife Hazel of Greensboro, GA. In addition, surviving her are seven grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Mariah Farmer, Ridge Farmer, Tristan Johnson, Nat Farmer, Wyatt Farmer, Maison Ginn and Madisyn Ginn and a number of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a daughter, April Farmer; two sisters, Floy Moon and Elizabeth Thompson; and a brother, Clarence Thomas Phillips.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, 3963 Union Point Highway, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Colin Duncan and Rev. Bobby Tomlin officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Bob Worthen, Ray Worthen, Kenny Worthen, Scott Phillips, Nat Farmer, and John Manley. Honorary pallbearers are Ed Dingler, Glenn Taylor, Bobby Brook, Ronald Swann, John Osborne and Ed Ogletree.
