Paul Deveral Lilly, Sr.

Paul Deveral Lilly, Sr., age 83, of Greensboro, GA, died on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, GA.  Born May 10, 1935 in Louisville, KY, he was the son of the late William Henry Lilly and Isabelle Nora Culmer Lilly. Paul graduated from Charleston High School in Indiana.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.  On June 25, 1966, he married the former Isa Joyce VanMeter of Shelbyville, KY.  For many years, he worked for Peter Kiewit Sons, Inc. as the Project Superintendent on heavy highway construction.  He moved from Lorton, Virginia to Greensboro in April of 1988.  After moving to Greene County, he was the superintendent for the building of Granite Cove.  He loved Casino gambling and the race track, especially the Kentucky Derby which he attended many times.  Paul was a member of Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church.

In addition to his wife, Joyce Lilly, of Greensboro, GA, he is survived by three sons, Michael Lilly of Hollywood, FL, Paul Lilly, Jr. (Teresa) of Greensboro, GA and James Lilly (Jacqueline) of Holiday, FL; three brothers, Donald Lilly, Anthony Lilly and Norman Wayne Lilly; grandchildren, Joyce Christine Lilly, Paul Lilly III, Stephen Kenney, and Bethani Accatino; great grandchildren, Elise Accatino, Kayla Barragan, Faith Kenney, Stephen Kenney, Jr. and Rebecca Rose Frederick; other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Bradshaw and a grandson, Jonathen Crowther.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2019, at Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church, 6341 Lake Oconee Parkway, Greensboro, GA 30642, with Father Michael Silloway officiating.  A burial service will follow at Liberty United Methodist Church Cemetery, 3091 Liberty Church Road, White Plains, GA 30678.  Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Peters, Lester Moon, Gordon Van Mol, Michael Strickland, Marty Deyess, and Derrick Daniels.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
