Owen Oliver "Scotty" Scott III

Owen Oliver “Scotty” Scott, III, of Union Point, Georgia, died Friday, June 22, 2012 at his residence. He was the son of the late Owen Oliver Scott, Jr. and Delle Morgan Scott of Union Point, GA. He was born in Monroe, Louisiana on July 16, 1943. Scotty was a graduate of Union Point High School class of 1961 and received a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Georgia in 1965. While at UGA he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, was president of the Student Body Senate, and also a member of the prestigious Gridiron Secret Society. He was a pharmacist in both Florida and Georgia, served as president of the Duval County Pharmacuetical Association and was also a Mason in Jacksonville. He grew up in Union Point as a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he recently served on the Growth Committee. Outside of work, Scotty was a loving father with a passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed camping with his children, gator hunting, taking pictures of nature, and was also an avid golf fan. Scotty was a recreational pilot and enjoyed flying. He is survived by his mother, Delle Morgan Scott, of Union Point, Georgia; step-grandmother, Martha Binns Scott of Greensboro, Georgia; four children, Chadwick Delan Scott of Fredrick, Maryland, John Owen Scott and wife Deirdre of Sarasota, Florida, Tara Eden Scott Kendall and husband John of Jacksonville, Florida and Buck Andreu Scott of Miami, Florida; brother, James M. “Jimmy” Scott of Union Point, GA; four grandchildren, Sage Taylor Scott, Madilynn Delle Scott, John Owen Scott Jr. all of Sarasota, Florida, and Nora Grace Kendall of Jacksonville, Florida; and a wide circle of friends. Memorial Services will be held Friday, June 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Union Point with Rev. Robert Abernathy, Sr. officiating. Inurnment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, 1423 N. Rhodes Street, Union Point, Georgia 30669. The family requests that memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 201 Veazey Street, Union Point, GA 30669.
