Norman Martin Obituary

Norman Lawrence Martin, age 77, of Greensboro, GA, died Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Minnie G. Boswell Memorial Hospital. Born December 4, 1930 in Worcester County, MA, he was the son of Phillip Martin and Theresa Martin. He graduated from Worcester High School and George Washington University. For a number of years he worked for the National Security Administration. He was a Division Chief at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD and retired in 1986 after 23 years as an Aero Space Engineer. He was a mason at Silver Spring Lodge in Maryland where he received his 50 year pin. Mr. Martin was a member of Lake Oconee Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his loving wife Shirley Martin of Greensboro, GA; three sons, David Bruce Martin and wife Kara of Seattle, WA, Kenneth Norman Martin and wife Shelby of Toccoa, GA and James Duey Martin and wife Dolores of Comer, GA; step children, Sandra Lynn Lubonski and husband James of Crofton, MD, Richard Royce Kammerer of Glen Burnie, MD, Douglas William Kammerer and wife Bernadette of Winder, GA, Kathryn Elizabeth Presley of Clarksville, MD and Thomas Edward Kammerer and wife Debbie of Bodkin Point, MD; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Aldo P. Martin and Gordon Martin.

Memorial Services will be held Sunday, August 3, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at Lake Oconee Lutheran Church in Eatonton, GA with Pastor Ron Schornhorst officiating. Following the service a reception will be held at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Lake Oconee Lutheran Church, 1089 Lake Oconee Parkway, Eatonton, GA 31024.
