Nora Coleman Obituary

Nora Dixon McGee Coleman of Greensboro, GA, died Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the age of 75 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro, GA.  Noni, as she was fondly known, was born in Louisville, KY on December 7, 1942 to Phillip McGee and Nell Wilder Craik McGee.  She graduated from Centre College in Danville, KY with a bachelor’s degree in education.  She married Edward Coleman on August 26, 1964 enjoying 54 years together.  For a while she taught in the Alameda California school district in the Head Start program, but left to become a full time homemaker raising their three children.  Noni was a faithful member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Greensboro after she moved to Lake Oconee from Knoxville, TN almost 20 years ago.  She was loved by all but will be remembered best for her devotion to her husband, children and grandchildren.  Noni was also very community minded and enjoyed volunteer work, particularly tutoring in the local schools.

In addition to her husband, Edward Coleman of Greensboro, GA, she is survived by her children, Chip Coleman of Austell, GA, Kathleen (Jason) Wohlers of Chattanooga, TN and Lisa (Daryl) Stone of Lake City, GA; sister, Mary Campbell of New Canaan, CT; seven grandchildren: Joshua, Sarah, Madeline, Hannah, Charlotte, Clare and Coleman; other relatives and many friends.

A service celebrating the life of Noni will be held at 1:00 PM, September 28, 2018 at the Lake Oconee Lutheran Church, 1089 Greensboro Road, Eatonton, GA 31024 with Rev. Bill Combs officiating.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148 or The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer Outreach Fund, PO Box 93, Greensboro, GA 30642.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
