Nellie Lunceford Kell Thigpen

Nellie Lunceford Kell Thigpen, age 88, of Evans, GA, died Friday, January 11, 2008 at Doctors Hospital of Augusta. Born in Greene County on September 2, 1919 she was the daughter of the late Carl Hampton Lunceford and Anna Cook Lunceford. She grew up and attended school in Union Point. She married James H. "Bud" Kell, Jr. who preceded her in death. She was a packager for Kendall Medical Supply in Augusta and a member of Bethesda Baptist Church in Union Point.

She is survived by her second husband, Ruel C. Thigpen, of Evans, GA; stepson, Billy Thigpen and wife Jackie of Evans, GA; step granddaughter, Michelle Thigpen of Evans, GA; step grandson, Mark Thigpen of Greenville, SC; five nieces, three nephews; and a number of great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Emmett Lunceford, Mattie Lee Bodiford and Harvey Lunceford.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 14, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethesda Baptist Church in Union Point with Rev. Jim Olds, Rev. Lem Clark and Rev. Steven Spencer officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Mark Thigpen, Mike Lunceford, Hollis Yearwood, Dennis Dover, Chad Godbee, Mark Bower and Jerry Lunceford.
