Nellie Elizabeth “Betty” Wade Parker, age 85, of Greensboro, GA, died Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Willow Run Retirement Home. She was born June 1, 1924 in Jefferson County, Alabama to the late John Cyrus Wade and Nellie McKinnon Wade. Mrs. Parker grew up and attended school in Pass Christian, Mississippi. She later lived in Gulf Port and Bay St. Louis, Mississippi before moving to Georgia. Mrs. Parker had made her home at Willow Run Retirement Home since February of 2008 and was a member of Morrow Presbyterian in Morrow, GA. She was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed reading, sewing and canning.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold W. Parker, Sr. in December of 2008; and two brothers, Richard D. Wade and John Cyrus “J.C.” Wade. She is survived by a daughter; Doris Coffey and husband Charles of Port St. Joe, FL; three sons, Harold W. Parker, Jr. and wife Teresa of Eatonton, GA, Alan W. Parker and wife Carmen of Ft. Walton Beach, FL and Curtis Wesley Parker and wife Sarina of Jackson, GA; nine grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 20, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church, 113 Scott Road, Eatonton, GA 31024 with Dr. Joe King officiating. Interment will follow at College Park Cemetery in College Park, GA at 2:30 p.m. Serving as pallbearers are Jeff Giles, Clinton Parker, Alan Parker Jr., Max Chavis and Dave Rogers. Flowers are fine or a memorial can be made to the charity of your choice. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service Friday morning at Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church.
