Nell Sanders Obituary

Nell Amoss Sanders, age 72, of Decatur, GA formerly of Greensboro, GA died Saturday, January 10, 2004 at HCR Manor Care of Decatur. A native of Greene County, she was born May 20, 1931 to the late Henry Hubert Amoss and Annie Mae Finch Amoss. She graduated from Greensboro High School and in 1952 she graduated from Berry College. During her working career, she was a school teacher in Clarkston, GA, Rhode Island, Pensacola, FL and Greene County. She retired from the Greene County School System where she had taught since the early sixties. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greensboro and the Amicus Sunday School Class.

Survivors include three brothers, Henry D. Amoss and wife Lessie of Macon, GA, John P. Amoss and wife Martha of Milledgeville, GA and Clarence R. Amos and wife Elizabeth of Towson, MD; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Holley Harbin and husband Buck of Big Bear City, CA; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Sanders in May of 1998; and two brothers, James T. Amoss and George H. Amoss.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with Rev. Jimmy A. Long officiating. Burial will follow at Siloam Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Danny Amoss, David Thompson, Dene Channell and Leighton Channell. The family requests that any memorials be made to the Alzheimers Association, Georgia Chapter, 1925 Century Blvd., NE, Suite 10, Atlanta, GA 30345-3315. The family will receive friends Wednesday at the Funeral Home from 12:30 p.m. until time for the service. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
