Neil Martin Anderson

Neil Martin Anderson of Greensboro, Georgia went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 20, 2015, 10 short weeks after his wife, Barbara Nall Anderson. Neil was born in Boone, Iowa on May 2, 1937 to the late Leona Larson Anderson and Wilbert Martin Anderson. Neil graduated from Algona High School in Algona, Iowa in 1955 and then from The University of Iowa in 1959. He served his country in the United States Army Reserve from 1960 until his honorable discharge in 1964. He married Barbara Nall on June 11, 1960 in New Orleans and moved to Nashville, Tennessee where he worked for more than 20 years for NLT, rising to Senior Executive Vice President. In 1984, they moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he finished his career working for Tillinghast-Towers  Perrin, retiring in 1996. Neil was a member of the Society of Actuaries, Southeastern Actuaries Conference and Leadership Nashville. In 2000, they moved to Greensboro, Georgia where Neil was an active member at Lake Oconee Lutheran Church for 15 years.

Neil – or Pap as he was known by family – loved to play golf and fish, although he’d be the first to say he did neither one very well. He was an avid reader, viewer of FOX News, and was the resident chef at all family gatherings. Pap was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Barb, and his brother, James Anderson. Pap is survived by sister Joyce Holcomb of Estes Park, CO, son, Keith Anderson of Atlanta, GA, daughter Sally Anderson Rosenlund (Brad) of Richmond, VA, former daughter-in-law Debbie Anderson of Atlanta, GA, and grandchildren: Stacey Rosenlund Stephens (Patrick), Erin Rosenlund, Sarah Anderson and William Anderson.

The family thanks Betty Jones for her friendship and the great care she provided to both Neil and Barb. 

The funeral will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, December 28 at Lake Oconee Lutheran Church, 1089 Lake Oconee Parkway, Eatonton, GA 31024. Family will receive visitors at 2:00 at the church, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, don’t vote for Hillary, or send a donation to Lake Oconee Lutheran Church Debt Reduction Fund. A reception in celebration of Pap’s life will be held at the Linger Longer Steakhouse at the Oconee Golf Course Club House adjacent to the Ritz Carlton on Lake Oconee Trail following the service.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
