Nancy Lee Powell Karakos, age 75, of the Greshamville Community formerly of Doraville, Georgia died Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at her residence in Madison.  Born in Atlanta on August 10, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Eddie L. Powell and Clara Lee Myers Powell.  She attended Hoke Smith High School.  She was married to Costa Mike Karakos who preceded her in death.  She worked as head of housekeeping for Sheraton Hotel in Atlanta. After moving to Greene County she worked for Jack Malcom. She made fish baskets, loved taking care of people, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Mrs. Karakos is survived by two sons, Terry Karakos of the Greshamville Community and Zack Karakos and wife Sandy of Newnan, GA;  a daughter, Mary Bruce of the Greshamville Community; three grandsons,Jason Bruce, Tommy Bruce and David Bruce, Jr.; three granddaughters, Tina Karakos, Costie Karakos and Victoria Karakos.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Costie Marina Karakos; and siblings, Mike Rogers, David Rogers, Deborah Beam, Jay Tee Rogers, Tommy Rogers, Johnny Rogers, Danny Rogers and Bill Rogers.

Graveside services will be held, Friday, September 18, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at the Karakos Family Cemetery, 1691 Reid Duvall Road, Madison, GA 30650 with Pastor Tony Gavalas officiating.
