Nancy Lee Merritt Gentry

Nancy Lee Merritt Gentry, 71, of Martinez died Sunday, July 28, 2002 at University Hospital in Augusta. Born November 16, 1930 she was the daughter of the late Fred Rodgers Merritt and Minnie Lee Vaughn Merritt. She lived most of her life in the Liberty Community of Greene County and was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Richmond Academy in Augusta and the Georgia Institute of Cosmetology in Augusta.

She was preceded in death by her husband Miles Copelan Gentry Jr. in March of 1990. She is survived by two daughters, Jan Foster and husband Ray of the Liberty Community and Caren Harwell and husband Horace Jr. of the Liberty Community; two sons Rodgers Gentry and wife Vicky of Martinez, Georgia and Ron Gentry and wife Blanche of Martinez, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Lorie DeLoach, Jason Gentry, Jim Foster, Erin Foster, Stacey McKinzie, Amanda Foster, Trey Harwell and John Harwell; and one great-granddaughter Abbigail DeLoach.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 1, 2002 at 4:00 p.m. at Liberty United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Nicholas officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Jeffrey Merritt, Darrell Merritt, Ceils Merritt, Doyle Merritt, Reggie Merritt and Robert Dowdy. The family requests that memorials be made to Liberty United Methodist Church c/o Ann Smith, 2491 Shiloh Road, Greensboro, GA 30642. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday night at the Funeral Home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
