Myrtle Harris Obituary

Myrtle Askew Moore Harris, age 91, of Eatonton, GA formerly of Greensboro, GA, died Sunday, January 30, 2005. Born in Greene County on February 3, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Edward H. Askew and Mary Elizabeth Park Askew. As a child she attended Meadowcrest School and later Greensboro High School. She was the owner and operator of Myrtle''s Beauty Shop in Greensboro from 1935 until 1989. She was a member of the Meadowcrest Ladies Club, the National Rifle Association and the First United Methodist Church of Greensboro where she attended the Lina Belle McCommons Sunday School Class. During her working career she was a member of the Greene County Chamber of Commerce and was named Woman of the Year.

She is survived by her husband, Fredrick D. Harris of Eatonton, GA; two sons, Adair Moore and wife Norma of Dunwoody, GA and Jimmy Moore and wife Cheri of Forest Park, GA; a stepson, Freddie Harris of Burlington, NC; two brothers, Thurston Askew of Greensboro, GA and Charles Askew of Greensboro, GA; four grandchildren, Stacy Payne, Greg Moore, Leigh Moore and Donald Moore; four great grandchildren, Sidney Harlow, Gregory Moore, Logan Moore and Hayden Moore; and a number of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Adair "Jack" Moore; two sons, Doug Moore and Al Moore; and siblings, Mary Hammond, Carolyn Askew, Park Askew, Jack Askew, Kelso Askew and E.H. Askew.

Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Greensboro with Rev. Ira McKeever officiating. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Michael Mooring, Freddie Harris, Jimmy Moore, Donald Moore, Adair Moore, Greg Moore and Joe Thomas.
