Murell Wesley Byce, Sr.
Murell Wesley Byce, Sr. of Greensboro, GA, died Monday, August 17, 2015 at Greene Point Health Care and Rehabilitation in Union Point. He was 84. A lifelong resident of Greensboro, Mr. Byce was born on May 30, 1931 to the late Deforest Heyward Byce, Sr. and Daisy Lee Satterfield Byce. Mr. Byce graduated from Greensboro High school in 1952. On January 24, 1954 he married the former Shirley Marchman of the Veazey Community. Until 1960 he helped his father on the dairy. He then worked for the Georgia Department of Transportation as the maintenance supervisor retiring in 1992 after thirty-four years of service. He was a member of Penfield Baptist Church. He was a gunsmith and enjoyed shopping flea markets.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Mills M. “B” Byce, Deforest Heyward Byce, Jr., James Linton Byce and Mary Sue Byce Leverette. In addition to his wife, Shirley Marchman of Greensboro, GA, survivors include a son, Wesley “Wes” Byce, Jr. of Newnan, GA; a brother, Francis Lee Byce (Christine) of Greensboro, GA; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at McCommons Chapel, 109 W. Broad Street, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Wayne Usry officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service at McCommons Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642. Serving as pallbearers are Byce Leverette, Carter Leverette, Lee Byce, Billy Byce, John Byce, Brian Marchman, Chris Nash, Johnny Yearwood, Thomas Edwards and Ralph Boswell. Honorary pallbearers are, Terry Byce, Robert Evans, Robert Harwell, Bobby Brook, L. G. Boswell, Ben Boswell, Benjie Boswell, Andrew Boswell, Lee Bailey, Fred Bright, S. M.
