Minnie Dell Moncrief Carney, age 88, of Penfield, GA, died on Friday, October 31, 2008 at Minnie G. Boswell Memorial Hospital. Born on June 11, 1920 in Greene County, she was the daughter of the late James Ernest Moncrief and Virtue Martin Moncrief. Dell attended Penfield School and graduated from Greensboro High School. During her working career she worked as a candler at Wayne Poultry and did quality control at Stylerite. She loved to work crossword puzzles, put together jigsaw puzzles, play solitaire, pick up pecans and cut grass. She was the oldest living member of Penfield Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Edward Carney in 1984. She is survived by a daughter, Ann Boyd and husband Keith of Penfield, GA; two sisters, Ernestine Barr of Norfolk, VA and Betty Cutaran of Virginia Beach, VA; four grandchildren, Derek Cantrell, Laurie Ranger, Kelly Jones and Kevin Boyd; seven great grandchildren, Kayla, Aidan, Aly, Caleb, Dagon, Leah and Boston; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside Services will be held Monday, November 3, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Penfield Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Usry officiating.
