Michael Eugene “Mike” Channell, age 51, of Greensboro, Georgia, died Sunday, November 12, 2006 at Athens Regional Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Greene County, he was born April 28, 1955 to Laverne Williams Channell of Greensboro and the late Eugene Maryland Channell. He attended Greene County High School. After high school he worked for Mary Leila Cotton Mill as a ball winder. He also surveyed with Robert Harwell, worked on the production line at Wood Kraft and delivered for Caldwell Laundry. Mike was a member of West End Baptist Church in Greensboro. He really enjoyed watching wrestling and was very fond of animals.
In addition to his mother, Laverne W. Channell, of Greensboro, GA, he is survived by a sister, Susan Snipes and husband Jackie of Greensboro, GA; two brothers, Scott Channell and wife Deborah of Greensboro, GA and Brian Channell and wife Denise of Greensboro, GA; a number of nieces and nephews, Lisa Goss and husband Clay, David Snipes and wife Jessie, Jeff Snipes and wife Tina, Keith Channell and wife Meredith, Joshua Channell, Seth Channell, Brelan Channell and Alan Channell; a great niece and great nephews, Hayden Goss, Grayson Goss, Jackson Snipes and Hadley Snipes; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at West End Baptist Church in Greensboro with Rev. Wayne Usry and Rev. Robert Robinson officiating. Interment services will follow at Greenview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Mark Payne, David Snipes, Jeff Snipes, Keith Channell, Joshua Channell and Thomas Hattaway. Honorary pallbearers are Clay Goss, Seth Channell, Alan Channell and Danny Snipes. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. Monday night at the funeral home.
