Meryl Laura Sorensen Hammond

Meryl Laura Sorensen Hammond, age 66, of Greensboro, GA, died Sunday, August 26, 2007 at Athens Regional Medical Center. Born in Wayne County, Michigan on September 29, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Fred Sorensen and Laura Heien Sorensen. Meryl was an Assistant Branch Manager with South Carolina Federal Credit Union in Charleston, SC retiring in 1996. She met Kenneth Hammond in Charleston, SC and they married on November 11, 1991. They relocated to Greensboro in March of 1998.

In addition to her husband, Kenneth Wayne Hammond, of Greensboro, GA, she is survived by two sons, Thomas Foster Rogers, III of Baldwin, MO and Todd Lee Rogers of Charleston, SC; a sister, Ann Floyd of Seymore, TN; four grandchildren, Collin Rogers, Chloe Rogers, Kurt Rogers and Katy Rogers; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, August 28, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at the chapel of the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2617 Vinson Highway, Milledgeville, GA 31061 with Rev. Michael Hardy officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to St. Jude Children''s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
