Maxwell Dorr McClure

Maxwell Dorr McClure, age 74, of Greensboro, Georgia, died on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Piedmont Newnan Hospital in Newnan, Georgia. Max was born in Memphis, TN on July 28, 1938 the son of Mary Belle Finley McClure of Greensboro, GA and the late Maxwell Dorr McClure, Jr. He graduated from Christian Brothers University in Memphis, TN with a Degree in Engineering. He married Barbara Jeanne Talley of Memphis, TN in 1954. For more than thirty years he worked as a Mechanical and Test Engineer for International Harvester Co. and J. I. Case Co. Most of his life was spent in Memphis, TN, moving from there to Naperville, IL and then retiring to Lake Oconee in 1992. He enjoyed fishing, reading, cooking and being with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his mother, Mary Belle McClure of Greensboro, GA, he is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Lee Grant and husband Clay of Peachtree City, GA and Barbara Ellen Jelinek and husband Dan of Thousand Oaks, CA; a sister, Deanne Hayes and brother-in-law, Billy Goggins; four grandchildren, Finley Grant, Jordan Grant, Nick Jelinek and Alex Jelinek; a number of other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Jeanne Talley McClure in September of this year and a daughter, Mary Melinda Daily.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 21, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel in Greensboro with Rev. Dr. James Choomack officiating.
