Mattie Julia Andrews Hopkins of Union Point, Georgia, died on Monday, October 28, 2013 at the age of 89. A lifelong resident of Greene County, she was born May 5, 1924 the daughter of Cortez Rawhide Andrews, Sr. and Addie Belle Studdard Andrews. She attended school in Siloam and married Edward Addison Hopkins. For forty-two years she worked for Union Manufacturing Company in Union Point as a knitter. As long as health permitted she was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Union Point.

She is survived by a son, Edward Wayne Hopkins (Anna) of Union Point, GA; a daughter, Betty Watts (Mike) of Union Point, GA; three sisters, Ellie Mae Nash (Billy) of Greensboro, GA, Nona Belle Tolbert (Comer) of Greensboro, GA and Delores Galloway (J. T.) of Powder Springs, GA; four brothers, Cortez Andrews, Jr. of Greensboro, GA; George Andrews (Pansy) of Greensboro, GA, Ford Andrews of Union Point, GA and John Andrews (Lynette) of Stockbridge, GA; grandchildren, Kim Leach (Russell), Shelly Coleman (Grant), Kelly Coleman (Allen), Brad Watson (Scarlett), Amy Yearwood (Adam), Beth Patrick (Jeff), Michele Barrett (Bryan) and Jeremy Watts; great grandchildren, Morgan Leach, Ethan Yearwood, Courtney Watson, Noah Watson, Walyn Coleman, Bailey Coleman, Heather Patrick, Breanna Patrick, Caroline Barrett and Whit Barrett; other relatives and many friends. In addition to her husband, Edward Addison Hopkins, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Virginia Gheesling and Ida Merritt

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Wesley Chapel Wesleyan Church, 2830 Highway 15 South, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Tim Tabler officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669. Serving as pallbearers are Brad Watson, Adam Yearwood, Russell Leach, Grant Coleman, Allen Coleman and Jeff Patrick. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service at the church. The family requests that any memorials be made to Wesley Chapel Wesleyan Church, 2830 Highway 15 South, Greensboro, GA 30642 or First Baptist Church, 206 Thornton Street, Union Point, GA 30669.
