Mary Frances Wilson Ott, age 101, of Woodville, Georgia, died on Friday, July 8, 2011 at Willow Run Retirement Home. Born in Woodville on October 8, 1909 she was the daughter of the late James Lamar Wilson, Sr. and Frances Louise Mahaffey Wilson. She attended Woodville School and graduated from Greensboro High School. She was an interior decorator and lived in Glens Fall, New York for forty years. During her career she was active in Business & Professional Women''s Club. Upon her retirement and returning to Woodville, she remained active in her church, sports, travelling, crocheting, community affairs and wrote for the Herald Journal for a number of years. She was a lifelong member of Woodville Baptist Church and a member of the Woodville City Council. In October of 2009 she celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends at the Woodville School House. She loved for family and friends to gather on her famous "welcoming" front porch for refreshments, fellowship and lots of reminiscing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Waldo Russell "Bud" Ott; sister Rebecca Wilson Freeman; and brothers, James Wilson, Benson Wilson and Ralph Wilson. She is survived by a daughter Lucille Ott Howard of Woodville, GA; brother, James Lamar Wilson, Jr. of Decatur, GA; grandchildren, Eugene O. Howard and wife Carol, Adrienne Howard and husband Victor Neal and LaCinne Howard; great grandchildren, Brandon Slater, Anthony Coleman, Manuel Gonzalez and Haylie Howard; nieces and nephews, Luine Miller Brice, Bill Freeman, Tommy Wilson, Frances Hutchins, Jackie Valesz, Sandra Harris, Jim Wilson, Suzanna Davis, Jeff Baxter and Lori Schleicher; and a number of other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Woodville Baptist Church, 1191 Peachtree Avenue E, Woodville, GA 30669 with Rev. Farrett Boswell officiating and Patrick Tice assisting. Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Keith Branyan, Gerald Silvey, Donald Silvey, Fred Walker, Bob Eddy, Ricky McCommons and Tom Yearwood. Honorary pallbearers are Julian Davison, Richard Cook, George Bramlett, Hollis Yearwood, Autry Bramlett and Lester Mize. A reception for family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service Tuesday morning at the Woodville School House.
