Mary Gsegner Obituary

Mary, Mama G, or “Miz G” was born in Lincoln County, NC on 12-13-14 (December 13, 1914) to Bertie Marie Rhyne and Oscar Pinkney Rudisill. She died at Heritage Healthcare of Athens on July 4, 2011 at the age of 96, after eight years stay at Mulberry Grove Assisted Living in Statham, GA. She graduated from Rock Springs High School in 1931, and from the School of Nursing of the University of Maryland in 1937. Her sisters, Gladys R. Sheldon and brothers Solomon, Rhyne, and Paul Rudisill predeceased her. Her sister Frances R. Carpenter died on July 5, 2011 in Florida. She married Francis Ford Gsegner (1916-1972) in 1942. She served as a nurse in Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Tennessee and at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia. She was a charter member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Marietta. She is survived by her children – Ford (Susie), Susan G. Termorshuizen (Reg), Robert (Marci), Mary G. Rudolph (David), and Laura G. Roberds. She has twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Her funeral service will be at the Asbury United Methodist Church, 3097 Asbury Church Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092, Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with the pastor, The Reverend Anita Sain and The Reverend Doctor Ford G’Segner, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Adam Gsegner, Philip Rudolph, Michael Roberds, Tyler Alderman, Derek Alderman and Tim Sturm. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Heifer International, P. O. Box 8058, Little Rock, Arkansas 72203-8058 or to the church or charity of your choice. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service Saturday morning at Asbury United Methodist Church.
