Mary Flynt Obituary

Mary Eva Copelan Flynt, 93, of Tampa, Florida, formerly of Greene County died January 29, 2004. Born in White Plains, Georgia on November 11, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Bridges Copelan and Fannie Rogers Reynolds Copelan and was one of four children. She grew up in Siloam, Georgia and graduated from Young Harris College. After graduating she returned to Siloam and taught school where she met Ralph Dearing Flynt who was born and raised in Taliaferro County. They were married in Greene County and moved to Tampa, Florida where her husband became a fireman during the depression. When Mr. Flynt became ill Mrs. Flynt worked in the Tampa School System Lunch Room and later at Adams Magnon Jewelry Store for close to twenty years. She loved being surrounded by the beautiful jewelry and was in charge of the china. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Tampa.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Dearing Flynt in September of 1951; her brother John J. Copelan; and sisters, Ethlyn Copelan Martin and Edith Copelan Stone. She is survived by one daughter, Beverly Jo Flynt Strean and husband Richard L. "Dick" Strean of Oakton, VA; two grandsons, Flynt Strean and wife Deanna of Lexington, Kentucky and Chad Strean of Charlotte, North Carolina; two nieces; four nephews; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 21, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro with the Rev. Dr. Ford G''Segner officiating. Interment will follow at Crawfordville Baptist Church Cemetery. The family requests that any memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 117 S. Main Street, Greensboro, GA 30642 or the Crawfordville Baptist Church Cemetery, 109 Park Street, Crawfordville, GA 30631. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
